  What is art?

“The expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form such as painting or sculpture, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.”   https://www.google.ca/webhp?gfe_rd=cr&ei=KBbAVOnmCsPB8ge5h4HABw#q=definition+of+art

My husband and I did not know what our son’s “work” was called. We knew it was unusual and fascinating but that was all we knew.

The morning we woke up to see Christopher’s “sculpture” of empty CD cases looking so similar to the wavy building we can see from our balcony, we both looked at each other and we agreed “there is a lot of creativity going on in him”.   We did not know what to “do” but I started taking photos….lots and lots of photos. I really had no choice because he would dismantle all of his creations and I did not want to miss any more wavy buildings. To make a long story short, we finally discovered the genre for Christopher’s creations: POP ART.

Getting back to the above definition of art, Christopher’s work does seem to fit the definition: creative, imaginative, producing works to be appreciated for their beauty or emotional power.   The comments that people shared about how a particular piece of Christopher’s art affected them seems to also “fit” the definition.   So, we hope you enjoy reading their comments and seeing what works of his art “spoke” to them.   We also hope you enjoy browsing through the various listings and watching the videos of Christopher’s “process”. -B.Z.
